The Property

La Bodega Escondida (the hidden Bodega) was renovated in 2005, to a high standard, to create a superb family home (129 m2) in one of the most beautiful valleys, la ribera de Gaidovar, in the area.  Originally a bodega, the renovation respected the different spaces it offered, the double height area where the wine barrels were stored is now the living / kitchen area. while the 2-storey area where the original owners lived is now three bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

It is designed to enjoy the immense nature and views that surrounds it, with windows and doors opening onto the terrace and porch. It is set in 6000 m2 of terraced land with mainly olive trees but also various fruit trees including, lemon, orange, cherry, plum nectarine and pomegranate  trees.

On the ground floor, a double height open space has been converted into the sitting area, kitchen and dining area. There is underfloor heating in this area and a good wood burning stove. From this area a passage leads to two double bedrooms and a shared bathroom. There is access from the bedrooms by patio doors to the vine covered terrace.


The first floor consists of a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and storage facilities, double doors lead from this area to a private terrace with beautiful views.
The house is very comfortable, cheerful and quiet,, cool in summer and equipped for winter days with an economic electric underfloor heating in the living area and excellent wood burning stove.

The Grounds

The property is 600 m from the main road. The track is in good condition and is shared by 2 other neighbours.

On arriving at the property there is parking for 2 cars. The area in front of the house is divided into 2 zones. The first terrace offers a porch for breakfast and good shade from the olive tree for lunch and evening meals. Next to this is a small vegetable garden with more fruit trees and a young palm tree. From the parking area steps lead up to the back of the property which then leads up to a generous flat area with a plunge pool, and timber decking to enjoy the stunning views. The rest of the land has olive trees, lavender and rosemary plants. Water is pumped from a nearby public spring and there is also 30.000 litres of water storage tanks, which are also used for collecting rainwater. This water is used for showering, cleaning etc, drinking water is collected from  “agua fria”, a local spring where many local people fill their drinking water containers.

The location

La Bodega Escondida is situated just 3 km from Grazalema. and it is just a 5 minute drive away, though there are also various walking routes to the village, which takes about 40 minutes.
